VirtualBox guest RDP authenticiation

RDP authentication For each virtual machine that is remotely accessible via RDP, you can individually determine if and how client connections are authenticated. For this, use VBoxManage modifyvm command with the --vrdeauthtype option; see the section called “VBoxManage modifyvm” for a general introduction. Three methods of authentication are available: The "null" method means that there is no authentication at all; any client can connect to the VRDP server and thus the virtual machine. This is, of course, very insecure and only to be recommended for private networks. The "external" method provides external authentication through a special authentication library. VirtualBox ships with two such authentication libraries: The default authentication library, VBoxAuth, authenticates against user credentials of the hosts.…

openSuse 13.2 : The simple solutions

I installed openSuse 13.2 yesterday. Some minor issues as usual but all seems stable and good. Sharing my experience so that you can save your time and set up openSuse 13.2 on your thinkpad quicker. I am using Lenovo Thinkpad W520 with Nvidia Optimus on a FHD display. Three major components that have configuration problem peculiar to Lenovo Thinkpad are the Palm Detection Failure of the touchpad, flickering screen brightness control and nvidia optimus display adapter. Thinkpad Touchpad Settings I always set the touchpad speed of thinkpad and enable palm detection so that my mouse cursor doesn't fly all over the screen. # synclient PalmDetect=1 # synclient PalmMinWidth=8 # synclient…

Move or migrate users, data and services to a new Linux server

This article explains how to move or migrate the following from old Linux server to new Linux server. A few days ago I purchased a new system and I wanted to migrate a working server system to this new system. Rather than reinstalling the server or swapping the hard drive, I transferred only a small amount of files and I was up and running with a functional server in a matter of minutes !! The following is to be moved/migrated to new system Existing user accounts Service data with configurations (in my case apache, sshd and vsftpd) Application data with permissions (in my case /home and /srv/www) I am using…

infinity

amazing 1+2+3+4 … = -1/12 !

This is perhaps one of the most amusing results I have ever seen in analytica mathematics. It just brought life to the love I had for number theory and analytical mathematics years ago ! As I was reading through some article on string theory, I stumbled upon this result. It just got my mind boggling. I was thrilled. This is it .. 1+2+3+4+5+6+ ... infinity = - 1/12 Does that makes sense to you? Actually it did not to me at first sight. How is that even possible? Its crazy. And guess what .. this result is used in major areas of Physics for the foundation formulation. It appears in…

Kashid Beach : The Lost Paradise

“If you push my car towards the Pune-Mumbai expressway, it would reach Kashid !” I would say to my friends often. I have been a very regular visitor to Kashid beach, ever since I discovered it somewhere in September 2011.  Blue water and light color sand(not exactly white) amidst lush green forest, high and playful waves, nice shacks all over the beach, tasty local food, changing rooms nearby and many people playing all over the beach, what more one could want? I have been there over 10 times since and each time, I enjoyed the beach. I have been there with my family, friends and almost anybody I could find,…

Arbitary Precision Calculations

An alternative algorithm for multiplying very large integers(unlimited precision) in fortran 90 !! It was then in 2005 that I wanted to multiply two very large integers on a 32 bit machine. 089312830830809287302983 x 08302810398201373902380208 = Inf or, Something in 1e+Blah Blah. Converting to double and do the multiplication seemed to work, but I lost precision. Even when using LONG LONG DOUBLE available in Intel Fotran 90 did not seemed to work. And I did not know Java had this bigInteger and int.multiply(int1) in those days. So, I developed application to do arbirtary precision mathematics ... So, I broke large numbers into chunks of chars and used decimal multiplication to…

A Fortran 90 Sudoku Solver

This is a powerful sudoku solver that can find infinitely many solution to a given sudoku. This application is capable of finding 1, multiple or as many solutions to a sudoku as possible. I had written the same algorithm in C back then in 2006, but I cant seem to find it now. I tested it then, using compiler ifor90 (Intel Fotran Compiler, 2006 Edition) and found it to be more efficient that C, C++ or similar codes.   My Sudoku Solver I Wrote in 2006-2007 while learning to code in Fotran 90 ! 1 ! copyright @ 2007, arpan dubey 2 ! simple sudoku solver . 3 ! 4…
